Bring Your Characters To Life
Are you are writer, a director or an aspiring actor? Do you write for the stage or the screen? This unique beginning workshop is designed to introduce screenwriters, playwrights, directors and those new to acting to the actor's craft.
Develop Your Own Craft By Learning A New One
Whether you've always dreamed of being on the stage or screen, or simply want to explore your own writing from the other side of the page, this class will help you knock down the walls between you and your characters. You'll not only learn how an actor approaches a play or screenplay, you'll have the experience of physically inhabiting a character, taking with you a new perspective that will forever change your writing.
Emphasis on Acting Fundamentals
This class will focus on the fundamentals of acting: Objective, Obstacle and Intention. In our work, you will learn to fully embody character by following your dramatic impulses. Drawing from Method Acting and techniques of physical theater you will discover new ways to access and integrate both the psychological and physical aspects of character development.
The Power Of Your Words
How does an actor bring a character to life from the written page Personally embodying a character is an amazing opportunity to open your dramatic imagination. Our work will help you gain a deeper understanding of subtext, dramatic beat and action, the fundamentals on which writing depends, while revolutionizing your understanding of dialogue by putting the language into your own mouth. Experiencing for yourself the physical life of a character will expand your awareness skill as a dramatic writer. And best of all, you will be able to put what you learn to use right in class, with unique writing exercises that draw upon the acting work you are doing.
