Sunday nights, from 7-9pm, join your fellow writers for a Sunday Night Cram Session at Pearl Studios, 500 8th Ave NYC (between 35th and 36th Streets).

Each week, you'll have a quiet room all to yourselves, power strips for your laptops, and even a writing exercise to get you started.

For two hours every week, you'll be free of the distractions of daily life, and able to concentrate on what means most to you, writing.

And unlike in a cafe, there will be a "no talking, just typing" rule in effect from the moment you enter the room, so you won't have to worry about distracting conversations, annoying neighbors, or gorging yourself on chocolate cupcakes as a procrastination tool.

Instead, you'll have the atmosphere you need to keep your focus, even as you draw inspiration from a dedicated community of fellow writers, all working toward the same goal.

How does the Cram Session Work?

Sunday Night Cram Sessions are intended to complement the weekly workshops by giving students an extended chunk of time dedicated solely to writing.

You can use Sunday Night Cram Sessions to further explore the writing exercises you start in class, to complete your screenwriting homework, or just to build a weekly rhythm that keeps you writing every week.

Though the Cram Sessions will be un-moderated, you will be provided each week with a writing exercise, intended to get you started if you're not sure what you want to work on.

And keep your eye out, because there may be days when I show up to write with you!

How Will Two Hours Change Your Life?

Don't think two hours can change your life? Imagine this:

If you wrote two hours a week for one year, and averaged only one page per hour, at the end of the year, you'd have 104 pages. That's a first draft of a full screenplay every year!

If you wrote for two hours a week for one year, and averaged only two pages per hour, you'd complete 208 pages. That's two full screenplays. Or a first draft and a complete revision.

If you wrote for two hours a week for one year, and averaged only three pages per hour, you'd complete 312 pages. That's a first draft of three different screenplays. Or a first draft, a complete revision, and a full polish of one screenplay.

That's some pretty good math. And of course that's assuming you only write for two hours per week. And never average more than 3 pages per hour.

Writing a screenplay is like training for a marathon. If you try to run all 26 miles your first day, the chances are that you will never finish. In fact, by the time they scrape your quivering body off the pavement, you'll probably never want to run again.

On the other hand, if you build a consistent practice based on goals you can actually achieve, before long you find yourself going for longer and longer distances. And soon, completing a marathon isn't an impossible dream. It's just something you do.
